THE WHARF DISTRICT COUNCIL PRESENTATION ON THE NEIGHBORHOOD'S GOALS FOR STATE STREET
The Wharf District Council Presentation on the Neighborhood’s Goals for State Street
The Wharf District Community, property owners, residents and businesses are unanimous in their opposition to the City’s proposed changes to State Street.
Yes to two traffic lanes.
Yes to a two direction bike lane on an alternative street.
No to one traffic-lane and one dedicated bike lane.
The State Street temporary set-up of the City's proposed design – one vehicle traffic lane and one bike lane – is having a negative impact on street travel and on the businesses, both large and small. Many retail shops have closed their doors. Larger businesses find the environment challenging. Residents and visitors find it unsafe and unfriendly.
State Street needs two lanes for vehicular traffic to meet it needs.
